What types of board games will I get?
You'll get one full-size board game per box, drawn from family, strategy, and party titles rated 8 and up, with an average retail value around $35. Every game is picked to work for 2 or more players, some can also be played solo, and the lineup rotates so you're not getting the same style twice in a row.
Do I get to keep the games?
Yes. Every board game you receive is yours to keep permanently, it's a purchase, not a rental, so nothing ships back and nothing is due if you cancel.
What age range are the games for?
Games are rated for ages 8 and up on average, spanning family, strategy, and party styles, so most boxes work for tweens through adults playing together. A handful of PREMIUM titles, like Evolution: Climate and Kokopelli, are rated for ages 14 and up, sold separately from the standard subscription.
When will I receive my first board game?
Your first box ships the month after you sign up, for example, an August signup ships in September, with boxes going out around the 15th of each scheduled month.
For gifts, whose email do I use at checkout?
Use your own email to create the account and pay. For gift subscriptions, there's a separate box at checkout for the receiver's email address and any gift message you'd like sent. If you also opt out of "Trust the Experts," that's the email the monthly game-selection message goes to on the 1st. See our Selecting Games page for exactly how that works.
If I give a subscription as a gift, when does the recipient find out?
The recipient is notified by email within 24 to 48 hours after the gift purchase is complete. If you'd like the notification delayed to a specific date instead, note that in the gift message box at checkout and we'll hold it until then.
I was gifted a subscription, how do I log in to pick my games?
You don't need an account. If the subscription is set to "pick your own," an email arrives on the 1st of each month with that month's game options, selected directly from links in that email, no login required. See our Selecting Games page for the full walkthrough.
How much is shipping?
Shipping is a flat $6 per box to any address in the continental United States. Prepaid plans bundle shipping into the upfront price, so there's no separate charge each month.
Where do you ship?
UnboxBoardom currently ships to the continental United States only, excluding Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and military (APO/FPO/DPO) addresses.
Can I cancel my board game subscription anytime?
Yes. The pay-as-you-go monthly plan can be canceled anytime with no fee. Prepaid 3, 6, or 12 month plans auto-renew at the end of the term unless you cancel first. Gift subscriptions are the exception, they end cleanly with no auto-renewal, unless the giver specifically checks a box at checkout to turn renewal on.
What's the difference between a board game subscription box and a board game of the month club?
They're the same thing. "Board game of the month club" is an older name for a monthly board game subscription box, a new, full-size game shipped to your door on a set schedule that you keep. UnboxBoardom's monthly plan, Gaming Guru, is its most popular option, chosen by over half of subscribers.
What are the PREMIUM titles, and are they part of my monthly box?
PREMIUM titles like Evolution: Climate and Kokopelli are $49.99 standalone purchases, not part of the standard monthly subscription. They're heavier strategy games for subscribers who want something bigger than a typical box, and can be bought separately anytime from the shop.
If I give a subscription as a gift, does the recipient ever get charged once the gift term ends?
No, the recipient is never charged for the subscription. All gift subscriptions end cleanly with nothing renewing automatically unless the box is marked at checkout to renew. A prepaid gift subscription is paid for up front for a fixed term (a 3, 6, or 12 month prepay).
Is there a board game subscription box for couples?
We do not offer a subscription that is built exclusively for 2 players. Most of our games can be played at 2 players (not all of them), and our board games for couples page highlights the ones that work best for exactly two.
